About me
“Emily was born in Tucson, Arizona, grew up in Arlington, Vermont, and has lived in New York City, the Netherlands and currently lives in Germany. These many different places, with their different landscapes, climates and cultures are a constant inspiration in her yoga practice: How does the environment influence the inner space and the self, and how does the human move in and perceive these very different worlds?Emily has always felt connected to movement. She looks for ways and techniques that enable her to perceive her own body and to get to know herself physically, mentally and emotionally. She first pursued these interests by studying Physical Theater and Contemporary Dance and currently works as a freelance dancer/performer in Germany and Europe.
Yoga was always a part of her movement training and when she began the YTT, she began to understand more specifically the physical and energetic anatomy of the body. She completed the 770hr Yoga Teacher Training at Soboco Yoga Institute in Cologne, where she deepened her knowledge of Hatha Vinyasa Yoga, Ayurveda and Yoga Therapy, and began creating her own Vinyasas. She recently finished a Yoga Alliance certified 500h Yoga Teacher Training with the House of Om.
Equally important to her own practice and her teaching are the Pawanmukthasanas, or exercises that warm up each joint and the spine before Asana practice. Her classes are therefore based on Pawanmukthasanas, Surya Namaskar, and her own Vinyasa-Flows that relate to specific themes, seasons or moon cycles.
She looks forward to learning with and from her students, to continue to learn more about the human and the spiritual every time she gets on the mat.”
